Job Description:

ATLAS is searching for a self-motivated and experienced space professional to deliver solutions for our clients through highly effective interactions involving face-to-face, virtual, and written contacts. In this Sales role you will work with existing and new clients to create and communicate how ATLAS SaaS and global ground station network provide a reliable, secure and cost effective platform for communicating with space vehicles. Working as part of the sales team, you will demonstrate the technical features of our products, drive sales, and maintain strong customer relations.

Key duties include working with the ATLAS Sales Team to identify opportunities, compose proposals/quote/service orders, and act as a link between ATLAS and clients. This position requires an understanding of satellite ground network operations and the technical requirements of supported spacecraft and launch vehicles. Self-study and research is required. The successful candidate will be curious and will need to stay up-to-date with emerging technology while also fully understanding current satellite RF communication methods. In addition to traveling to client locations, the global nature of ATLAS operations often requires sales representatives to accommodate work hours of clients and activities located in different time zones.

Essential Duties:

  • Stay current with Satellite industry company news, identifying prospective customers that potentially need ATLAS communication Services.
  • Contact prospective and existing clients with ATLAS value proposition, challenging status quo with improved ATLAS solution.
  • Identify and shape opportunities, sell and keep sold, and extend contracts
  • Participate in industry events
  • Develop extensive knowledge of our product range to include service, hardware and software
  • Develop compelling proposals as well as complimentary material such as ROMs, service orders, whitepapers that communicate the ATLAS value proposition
  • Work with technical, operations, and leadership team to ensure customer requirements are met
  • Through customer engagement, build and maintain strong professional relationships that foster trust and confidence
  • Advance the company’s reputation as a technological leader in satellite communications
  • Participate in ATLAS team activities not directly related to customer engagement to include supporting staff activities and sales process
  • Utilize company software tools such as Salesforce, Jira, Confluence

Required Qualifications:

  • Background selling technical solution, and high-level technical understanding of computer networking and digital communications
  • Current US Citizenship (clearable for US DoD Security Clearance)
  • Excellent interpersonal communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills
  • Able to juggle multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced workplace
  • Strong customer interaction, positive teamwork engagement, and conflict management skills
  • Minimum 2+ years outside sales experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience within the space industry, specifically RF ground communications
  • Experience developing new accounts by researching and identifying potential leads, soliciting new business, building connections, providing technical information and advice, and preparing quotes
  • A four year university degree or equivalent experience.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop extensive knowledge of our products to include service, hardware, and software
  • Support growing sales opportunities and lean forward in demonstrating technical features and benefits of our products
  • Review and respond to technical segments of request for information (RFI) and request for proposal (RFP) activities
  • Evaluate and process mission requirements specifications
  • Develop Statements of Work for defining expectations
  • Participate in product feature development activities
  • Work with technical, operations, and leadership teams to ensure customer requirements are met
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships that foster customer trust and confidence
  • Advance the company’s reputation as a technological leader in satellite communications
  • Participate in ATLAS team activities not directly related to customer engagement to include supporting staff activities and the capture process
  • Utilize company software tools such as Salesforce, Jira, Grafana, STK, and G-Suite
    and execute satellite communications teleport installations

Required Qualifications:

  • Familiarity of ground communications sub-system and high-level technical understanding of how ground communications are set up and used
  • Current US Citizenship (clearable for US DoD Security Clearance)
  • Excellent interpersonal communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills
  • Able to manage multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced workplace
  • Network infrastructure knowledge (TCP/IP communication), cloud computing
  • Strong customer interaction, positive teamwork engagement and conflict management skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience within the space industry, specifically RF ground communications
  • Experience developing new accounts by researching and identifying potential leads, soliciting new business, building connections, providing technical information and advice, and preparing quotes
  • Undergraduate engineering degree
  • 2+ years of technical field support of hardware and software solutions
  • 2+ years of application support experience
  • 2+ years of system infrastructure support experience

Job Description:

ATLAS is searching for an RF Solutions Engineer to assist us in expanding our network to meet the demands of the burgeoning space marketplace. Key responsibilities include defining the ATLAS network architecture hardware design standards and designing network solutions to meet customer requirements and market demands. The RF Solutions Engineer establishes SATCOM antenna and modem performance requirements, conducts architectural design trade studies, evaluates antenna and modem products to meet customer and market demands, performs cost benefit analysis between design options, all tasks leading ATLAS to fielding the most cost effective and reliably performing network required to connect humanity through space.

The RF Solution Engineer supports our marketing and sales department to evaluate network capability to satisfy customer requirements. In support of business development objectives, this position synthesizes solutions, cost estimates and implementation schedules for input to the sales proposal generation process. The RF Solution Engineer is the ATLAS lead for sustaining vendor-customer relationships. The vendor-customer relationship is a key element ensuring ATLAS network components meet our exacting requirements as we continue to grow. This position interfaces with customers, product vendors, service providers and co-workers to align efforts with company priorities and in accordance with project milestones and constraints. The position requires periodic travel to vendors, trade shows and customer locations.

Essential Duties:

  • Analyze and define network antenna, modem and infrastructure performance requirements
  • Determine market technology and service trends with demonstrated curiosity and technology advancement
  • Provide leadership and technical input to the ATLAS network and platform development roadmap
  • Define network architecture performance standards and design principles
  • Evaluate vendor products for potential integration into the ATLAS network
  • Support ATLAS marketing and sales functions, specifically the satisfaction of meeting client requirements. In the case of a gap, define solutions and steps/costs to meet needs
  • Synthesize network support concepts
  • Estimate solution design non-recurring and recurring cost estimates along with implementation timelines
  • Develop and sustain vendor relationships
  • Communicate network antenna and modem performance requirements to vendors
  • Evaluate and select antenna and modem solutions based upon performance, cost and network reliability in meeting customer service level obligations
  • Actively participate in and/or lead projects as assigned in order to achieve company goals

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from an accredited post secondary education institution
  • Direct experience in communications system design and implementation
  • 5+ years hands-on experience working in one of the related areas: design, testing, installation, operation or sustainment of satellite communications ground antennas and/or modems
  • Knowledge or experience in satellite systems or satellite network design, test, operations and sustainment
  • Demonstrated curiosity in state of the art computing and space operations technology advancement and innovation
  • Well honed written and verbal communication skills
  • Requires analytical and problem solving skills to analyze data, do research, diagnose and solve problems
  • Aptitude to understand and adopt online collaboration tools and design/program management applications
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others, particularly in teams
  • Strong work ethic and flexibility to work as required to meet company milestones
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized
  • US Citizenship

Additional Information:

  • Location: ATLAS headquarters is located in Traverse City, MI. Candidates need not move to Traverse City to fill this position. Remote work is approved.
