World Teleport Association Names ATLAS’ Sean McDaniel as 2021 Teleport Executive of the Year
The World Teleport Association (WTA) today named Sean McDaniel, CEO, ATLAS Space Operations as the 2021 Teleport Executive of the Year. Mr. McDaniel will accept the award at the 2021 Teleport Awards Celebration on September 8 during the SATELLITE 2021 conference in Washington, DC.

ATLAS Space Operations is proud to support the ATLAS Space Explorers Post 2025. The Exploring program is an affiliate of the Boy Scouts of America. Post 2025 is composed of young adults who are interested in STEM experiences and want to learn about possible space-related career opportunities. Post 2025 is different from other STEM activities because the program is designed to mirror the organizational structure and cultural environment of a tech startup.
Going Where Satellites Go: Polar Plunge
For eight years during the Cold War, the United States kept a fleet of bombers high above the Arctic around the clock. The Arctic was of great strategic importance at the time for its proximity to the then-Soviet Union. With this in mind, the US flew bombers in patterns over vast swaths of ice to provide the greatest possible degree of readiness.
Five New Ground Stations Expand ATLAS Space Operations Ground Network
With the addition of five new ground stations to its growing global ground network, ATLAS Space Operations continues to find ways to achieve its chief mission: connecting humanity through space. The new antennas in New Zealand, Australia, Scotland, Alaska, and an upcoming commissioning in Dubai, UAE represent a dramatic increase in ATLAS’ global footprint and network capacity. The move is expected to bolster global antenna coverage and establish new communications opportunities for the burgeoning satellite market.
ATLAS Expands Scope and Impact with Latest Launch
With the recent launch of a Soyuz-2.1a rocket from Russia’s Baikonur Cosmodrome, ATLAS Space Operations has grown to support three brand new missions with its Freedom™ Platform. Amid the multinational launch, ATLAS will support Astroscale, LinaSpace, and Axelspace in some of the most impressive space-based missions happening today.
